Funds to railway in West Bengal has been increased three times since Mamata was Minister: Vaishnaw
Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced a ₹13,955 crore allocation for West Bengal's railway projects in the Railway Budget 2025, a threefold increase from the average annual allocation (₹4,380 crore) during Mamata Banerjee's tenure as Railway Minister (2009-2014). The total investment in West Bengal's railway infrastructure currently stands at ₹68,000... crore. Vaishnaw requested the West Bengal government's cooperation in land acquisition and addressing law and order issues to expedite project completion. 101 stations are being modernized, 1290 km of tracks added in the last 10 years, and 3337 km will be equipped with the Kavach safety system. Nine Vande Bharat trains operate in West Bengal. These announcements come amidst Trinamool Congress complaints of reduced allocations since their party members headed the Railway Ministry.
